Soleya Scrubs Makes Hospital Work More Comfortable

  • Why a nurse and doctor team created Soleya Scrubs.

  • How the brand is focusing on self-care for healthcare workers.

If you work in healthcare, you know that scrubs are often just… scrubs. They can be stiff, boxy, and feel like you’re wearing paper. One nurse, Beth Guynes, was getting ready to go back to work after having kids and felt this deeply.

She ordered scrubs from all the popular online brands, but when they arrived, she was sorely disappointed. She said that even the softest ones felt like “scratchy bed sheets.”

She and her husband, Dr. Anthony Guynes, an ER physician, knew how tough a long shift can be. They decided that healthcare workers deserved better. So, they started Soleya Scrubs to make hospital work more comfortable.

Why Can’t Scrubs Feel Good?

Beth got used to wearing comfortable, soft activewear (like Lululemon or Vuori) when she was home. She asked a simple question: “why can’t scrubs look and feel as good as the clothes I wear every day?”

She and Anthony realized that the people who work the hardest—risking themselves “mentally, emotionally and physically” every shift, were stuck with clothes that “fit bad, felt bad, and looked bad.”

They decided to fix it. They created Soleya Scrubs using a “buttery soft” performance knit fabric. It’s the same kind of material you find in high-end yoga pants. The goal was to make scrubs that finally feel good and support workers through their long shifts.

“As healthcare workers we spend our lives dedicated to helping others,” said Beth Guynes. “But when it comes to caring for ourselves, we clock out… comfort is not a luxury. We work hard and deserve to be comfortable and confident when we show up to shift.”

Dr. Anthony Guynes agreed. “Healthcare is too hard and too important to be done wearing bed sheets.”

More Than Just Clothes

For the founders, this is about more than just fabric. It’s about wellness and self-care for a workforce that is facing burnout and stress.

The company’s focus is on supporting the healthcare community. They have helped professionals who were displaced during the LA fires. They also recently gave away a $5,000 dream vacation and a spa treatment package to a healthcare worker.

Made in the USA

Unlike many big brands that focus on profits and “cheap overseas manufacturing,” Soleya Scrubs is a locally owned small business.

They make every single piece right in the United States, in Los Angeles. They even use compostable packaging. This focus on quality and ethics is getting noticed. The brand was recently featured in Forbes magazine and raised an oversubscribed $100,000 from investors.

The founders of Soleya Scrubs are proving that comfort is important. As they say, “Healthcare is hard. Your scrubs don’t have to be.”
