A Program for the Real World
Many of us learn better by doing, not just by reading. YourCoach Academy is a 20-week program. It is approved by the NBHWC, which is the big national board for health coaches. This means that when you finish, you are eligible to take the exam to become a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach.
But the team at YourCoach wants to go beyond just passing a test. They want to get you job ready. The program mixes live weekly classes with self-paced work. This flexibility is huge if you are trying to switch careers while still working a current job.
Mentorship Matters
One detail that really stood out to me is the focus on mentorship. Learning a new skill is scary. Having someone in your corner makes a big difference.
The program includes peer coaching labs and direct feedback. Ashlee Honeycutt, the Director of Health Coaching Operations, explained that they want to teach science-backed skills. She noted that it is not enough to just memorize facts. You have to know how to talk to real people and help them move forward.
I love this approach. We have all met “experts” who know the theory but can’t connect with people. This academy seems focused on fixing that gap.
Building a Career
Marina Borukhovich, the CEO of YourCoach Health, shared that their mission is to elevate the whole profession. They believe that human connection is the secret sauce to getting healthy.
Because YourCoach is already a trusted company in the industry, they are also offering pathways for work opportunities. While it is not guaranteed for everyone, select graduates might get considered for coaching roles within the YourCoach ecosystem. That is a huge perk that most schools cannot offer.
