CyberASAP Helps College Students Build Tools to Stop Hackers

In this article, you’ll discover:

  • How a UK program helps researchers build real businesses from their ideas.
  • Why these new tech tools just raised £47.4 million from private investors.
  • The ways these smart teams are working to stop hackers and protect our data.

It is always exciting to see smart ideas turn into real tools. Today, we are looking at a UK program that helps college students and teachers build businesses to stop hackers. It is called CyberASAP, and it is doing some amazing things for online safety.

This program is a big hit with investors. Paul Wilkes from Osney Capital said, “The talent and technologies emerging from UK universities are world-class and represent a significant opportunity for investors and the UK economy. As academics look to commercialise their inventions, founder-focused accelerators are critical. CyberASAP is a shining example of how to do this well.”

PingChen Lin from CybPass also shared his story. He said, “CyberASAP played a truly pivotal role in our journey, helping us leap from academic research into a company ready to solve real-world problems. It challenged our thinking, sharpened our focus on customers and regulation, and gave us the conviction to build CybPass into an investable cyber security venture tackling urgent AI assurance challenges.”

Building Real Businesses

Over the last nine years, CyberASAP has helped start 42 companies. They take smart people from over 80 colleges across the UK and teach them how to sell their ideas. Dave Palmer from Ten Eleven Ventures says the program gives these students the best support to turn their inventions into big companies that keep us safe. Emma Fadlon from CyberASAP added that the program shows what happens when you give public research the right business help.

Big Money for Smart Ideas

It takes money to grow a business. The people who finished this program have raised an amazing £47.4 million so far. Most of that money comes from private investors who believe in these new tools. Because the program works so well, the government is giving them another £10 million over the next four years. This will help even more teams protect data and keep the internet safe.

Solving Global Problems

These new businesses are not just doing homework. They are making tools to stop hackers, protect kids online, and keep our digital world safe. They even had a big showcase event recently in London to show off their hard work. Teams like Cavero Quantum and FACT360 proved they are ready to help the public.

It is so great to see school projects become real tools that protect us all. I am always excited to learn about programs like this and share them with you on CompanyGlance.
