WaiV Robotics Brings New Drone Landing Pad to the US

In this article, you’ll discover:

  • How a new landing pad makes catching drones safe.
  • Why landing on a moving boat is now possible.
  • How this smart tech helps offshore oil and wind farms.
  • Where to see this tool at a Houston event.

Drones are very helpful for ocean jobs. But landing a flying robot on a moving boat is hard. Now, a company called WaiV Robotics is fixing this problem. They just brought their new landing pad to the United States. This tool helps boat workers safely catch and launch drones right from their ships.

Johnny Carni is the founder and CEO of WaiV Robotics. He explains why this new tool matters for ocean energy. He says, “The future of offshore energy depends on the ability to maintain and support assets over time. As energy assets continue to move farther from shore, operators need more efficient ways to maintain, support, and respond to issues across remote infrastructure. Our platform was built to make UAVs a reliable part of offshore operations, ensuring they can be used for missions where speed, safety, and access matter most. As we expand into the U.S., we look forward to helping American operators transform their existing vessels into dependable hubs for all types of maritime operations.”

Smart Tech Makes Landings Safe

Landing on a boat that moves with the ocean waves sounds scary. WaiV makes it easy with some really smart tech. Their special landing pad uses motion sensors to stay flat against the ocean waves. It also uses computer programs to guide the drone down.

This means humans do not have to worry about making a mistake during the final landing steps. When the drone touches down, the pad absorbs the bump. Then it locks onto the drone so it will not slide off in bad weather. The best part is that this pad works with almost any drone that flies straight up and down. You do not even have to change your drone to use it.

Great for Wind Farms and Oil Rigs

Companies are building more wind farms and oil rigs far away from the beach. Because these places are so far away, sending people out there to check on things takes a long time. Drones are much faster and safer.

With the WaiV system, ships can become real drone hubs. Workers can use drones to check on wind turbines or find an oil leak. They can even use them to help clean up messes or keep an eye on important tools. This keeps human workers safe and saves a lot of time. WaiV just raised a lot of seed money, about 7.5 million dollars, to help build more of these cool tools.

A Big Debut in Houston

WaiV Robotics recently showed off this new tech in person. They shared their amazing landing pad with crowds in Texas at the Energy Drone and Robotics Summit. It gave people a great look at how the future of ocean work is getting much safer. Now, this smart tool is officially ready to help American ships out at sea.
